A CLEAR STARTING POINT

Understand the objective.
Assess the information.
Plan the next step.

Our approach connects the legal assessment to the decision you need to make.

Clear instructions and organised records help identify what can be assessed and what remains uncertain. The appointed lawyer considers the agreed information, explains relevant gaps and discusses the next work that may be appropriate.

The process should make responsibility, deliverables and limitations understandable before action is relied on.

START WITH THE REAL QUESTION

The objective, the facts
and the documents belong together.

A useful assessment begins with what you need to decide.

A client may describe a problem as an unpaid invoice, a permit refusal or a contract dispute. The legal question depends on the actual parties, records and procedural stage. We begin by identifying the immediate concern and the practical objective, rather than assume a label determines the right response.

Tell us what has already happened, which commitments have been made and which decisions or deadlines are approaching. Existing advice, proceedings and communications should be identified so the assessment starts from the current position.

Three questions guide the starting point.

  1. What needs to be resolved?Define the decision, transaction, application or dispute that needs attention.
  2. What supports the position?Identify complete documents, relevant evidence and gaps in the record.
  3. What work can be agreed?Confirm the scope, responsible lawyer and any further assessment required.
THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS

A structured review.
A considered next step.

  1. 01

    Understand the context

Identify the client, parties, countries, objective and current stage. Flag notices, hearings and transaction dates so procedural urgency can be assessed rather than assumed from a general website description.

  2. 02

    Define the document set

Agree which contracts, decisions, records and attachments are included. Original versions, later amendments and related proceedings can change the assessment. Explain what is unavailable or in another language.

  3. 03

    Separate facts from assumptions

The appointed lawyer considers the agreed material and identifies which points are supported, disputed or unverified. A client’s account is important context, but documents and missing evidence must be assessed openly.

  4. 04

    Consider options and limitations

The review can identify possible advice, further investigation, negotiation, applications or proceedings. The relevant forum, authority and other professional input depend on the matter. No route is chosen solely because it appears more immediate.

  5. 05

    Agree the work to follow

A recommendation and an instruction are different steps. Confirm what further work is accepted, the intended deliverables, fees and authority. If information is insufficient, additional review may be needed before substantive action is advised.

THE FORM OF THE INSTRUCTION

One approach.
Different kinds of legal work.

PERSONAL MATTERS

Understand the existing position.

For a family, residence, inheritance or other personal matter, the review connects your circumstances with the decisions, records and procedure involved. Sensitive information should be limited to what is relevant and shared through an agreed method.

Related issues may require separate work; for example, a divorce, property claim and foreign judgment are not automatically one engagement.

TRANSACTIONS & DOCUMENTS

Review a commitment before relying on it.

A transaction review should identify what you are acquiring or promising, who has authority and which documents define the obligations. Explain whether a draft can still be negotiated or has already been signed.

Legal review is coordinated with technical, financial and other specialist work where needed. It does not guarantee that a transaction is free of risk.

BUSINESS & DISPUTES

Connect the legal question to operations.

Businesses may need a defined project or recurring legal support. The assessment should reflect the activity, decision-makers, contracts and current disputes, with reporting and additional-work approval agreed.

A legal entitlement, a favourable decision and practical recovery are distinct questions. Costs, evidence and implementation should be considered alongside the intended claim.

COMMUNICATION & DOCUMENTS

Make the assessment
understandable and usable.

Explain the issues in context

The discussion should connect legal questions to the decision you face. Ask which facts matter, what remains uncertain and what further material would change the assessment. The aim is to support informed instructions rather than present unexplained legal terminology.

Tell us your preferred language and any accessibility or scheduling needs when arranging the consultation. The meeting language and any separate translation or interpretation are confirmed for the matter.

Agree the deliverable

An oral consultation, written legal opinion, marked-up draft and prepared application serve different purposes. Confirm what you will receive, which questions it addresses and what assumptions or exclusions apply. A written report is not automatically included in every meeting.

Explain the intended audience before commissioning written advice. Work intended for your own decision may need a different scope from material intended for a business partner, authority or proceeding.

Organised records matter. Keep complete versions and attachments, identify changes and preserve relevant original communications. Ask before sending sensitive material; an unsolicited document bundle is not an agreed review.

INTERNATIONAL MATTERS

Plan across countries
with responsibilities in view.

For clients abroad, the first assessment identifies the countries, parties, documents and proposed Turkish work. Online consultation can help begin that discussion, but it does not remove requirements for authority, original records, certification or personal participation in later steps.

A power of attorney should be assessed against the intended acts and receiving authority before it is arranged. The correct form and any overseas formalities depend on the actual document and transaction, not a general assumption that a single template works everywhere.

Identify each professional role.

Foreign-law advice, local representation in another country, accounting, valuation, engineering and research may need separate providers. Their availability, responsibilities, fees and information-sharing arrangements should be confirmed.

Coordination is part of the planning, not a claim that every service is delivered in-house or that a Turkish engagement covers every country involved.

SCOPE, FEES & FOLLOW-UP

Agree the relationship
before relying on action.

A well-defined engagement states the client, responsible lawyer, legal questions, document set and intended work. Professional fees are distinguished from official charges and external-provider costs. Any authority needed to act should be identified alongside those arrangements.

If the matter develops

New evidence, another party, a counterclaim or a proposed transaction change may alter the work needed. Discuss whether the existing scope covers the development and what additional assessment or fee approval is required.

The consultation should not be treated as unlimited future advice, and a recurring business relationship should identify the categories and volume of work it covers.

If action is urgent

Flag the complete notice or decision and its notification details immediately. A message does not establish that the lawyer has accepted an urgent procedural step. Confirm the engagement, instructions and documents required for the action.

Courts, authorities and counterparties control decisions outside the provider’s responsibility. No permit, judgment, recovery or completion date is guaranteed.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Make the arrangement
understandable.

These answers explain the proposed working relationship. Advice on your own circumstances requires an agreed assessment with the appointed lawyer.

What is the first step in your approach?

Identify the actual question, your role, relevant countries, available documents and any approaching deadline. The consultation and review scope are then confirmed with the responsible lawyer.

What if my information is incomplete?

Explain what is available, missing or uncertain. The lawyer can identify the limits of the assessment and whether additional records or specialist work should be considered before further advice is given.

Can I ask for a written assessment?

Yes, a written deliverable can be considered under an expressly agreed scope. Define the question, document set, intended audience and purpose before the opinion or report is commissioned.

Can you start with an online consultation?

An initial meeting can be online, subject to availability and scope. Later work depends on the procedure, authority and document requirements, including any personal participation.

Do you always recommend court proceedings?

The assessment should consider the actual objective, evidence, procedure and available routes. Negotiation, further review, an application or proceedings may involve different work. No single approach is suitable for every matter.

What changes if another country is involved?

The Turkish legal work and any foreign-law questions are identified separately. Appropriately qualified foreign counsel or other providers may be needed under confirmed arrangements.

Does agreeing a consultation include ongoing representation?

Only the agreed scope is included. Drafting, negotiations, applications, proceedings and future advice must be expressly accepted, with fees and authority confirmed as needed.

DISCUSS YOUR LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

Bring your question
into focus.

Tell us your role, the subject, the countries involved and any approaching deadline. Identify whether you need a consultation, document work, representation, business counsel or a professional instruction.

Start with a brief outline and ask how sensitive records should be shared. The client, responsible lawyer, scope and fees are confirmed before the agreed legal work begins.
